The focus of this role encompasses both oversight of the Finance, Tax and Regulatory functions and reporting deliverables as well as providing input into key commercial and strategic decision making for a non-deposit taking Micro-Finance Institution.

Requirements
  • Managing the overall Finance, Tax and Regulatory function for Zambia operations
  • Preparation, review and submission of monthly budgets and management accounts and analysis/reporting on financial performance
  • Design, implementation and monitoring of risk management systems and strategies
  • Ensuring the company's financial statements are accurate and comply with accounting principles and regulations
  • Coordinating with External auditors during external audit
  • Timely Reporting to the Bank of Zambia as is required for MFI’s. This may involve attending meetings with Bank of Zambia
  • Ensuring the company's financial operations comply with regulatory requirements; including reporting back monthly to group management around what these ongoing requirements are from a regulatory/compliance perspective, and how these requirements are being met.
  • Tax compliance and liaising with the Zambia Revenue Authority on any issues that may arise
  • Tax optimisation strategies - i.e. in relation to VAT, tax treatments of different areas of the business - this will require and understanding of local tax requirements, together with of the business itself, to be able to have operations being set up and run in a tax efficient manner (this could include areas such as VAT, income tax, withholding tax and other taxes)
  • Managing relationships with our Banks and Telco partners and other key stakeholders ● Sourcing Forex
  • Drafting, inputs into, and review of employment and other similar contracts in relation to business partners in Zambia
